Last night there was another shooting at Club Empire in Ybor City. As long as Empire stays open Ybor will not be able to shake its infamous image. In 2007 were two shootings at the nightclub.
At 3am a fight broke out inside Club Empire as the club was closing. Tampa police dispersed the group but the disagreement reignited in the parking lot at the north end of the building. During the scuffle 20 year old Khakem Jones shot Stephan Kreilkamp several times. Kreilkamp, 21, was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he remains in in critical condition. Police described the wounds as life threatening.
Police have charged Jones with attempted murder in the second degree and carrying a concealed firearm.

Sadly a lot of the crime that happens here in Ybor seems to be suppressed by who knows who. I live here and personally have seen crime here AND it doesn’t appear anywhere in print nor online. very rare for the truth to really come out..as if someone or a group of people are trying to paint a safer picture of our town than it really is. 7th ave and 16th street near the county parking lot is really not too safe after 1am.
