Jobsite theater characterizes their stage version of Night of the Living Dead as: a gripping, terror-filled play that brings all the fright of the cult classic film to life. This blend of thrilling horror, laced with touches of black humor, envelops the audience in the action and unfolds into a shocking theatrical ending.
First off, if you haven’t seen the original 1968 movie version of Night of the Living Dead (view it below) much of the humor will slip right by you. It was apparent which audience members had seen the original. For those that have seen the original will enjoy the classic overacting , Kari Goetz’s portrayal of Barbara is wildly entertaining. Alvin Jenkins should have been casted as the original Harry Cooper. Unlike the spring production of The Lieutenant of Inishmore, I was surprised there wasn’t a little more blood and violence. I know its keeping with the original but I enjoy my zombie flicks with gratuitous violence.
Jobsite’s Night of Living Dead is worth viewing and pays homage to the original film. There is one big surprise in the production and I promise you’ll leave the theater chuckling. Thank you Jobsite for another entertaining evening.
